ThunderX3 is a new brand of the Taiwanese company AeroCool Advanced Technologies, which is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of cases, power supplies, as well as various accessories and peripherals for home computers. Despite the fact that the company was founded just fifteen years ago, it managed to win hearts with its innovative solutions and unique design that gamers love. Obviously, therefore, the company AeroCool decided to create a new line of their products, produced under the ThunderX3 brand, which is intended primarily for the avid computer gamers. What does a gamer need first of all? Of course – gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, rugs and chairs. It is these products that are manufactured by AeroCool under the ThunderX3 brand. The name of the ThunderX3 brand was not chosen by chance, because it means more than just the thunder that we hear during thunderstorms. According to Wikipedia, Thunder is the name of the god Thor (in Slavic mythology, Perun most closely matches him), which comes from the Old Norse word meaning thunder. In total, there are six models in the ThunderX3 gaming mouse line, two of which are divided by color scheme. Almost the top model, the TM50, has fallen into our hands. It differs from the flagship TM60 only in the sensor, the rest of the ingredients: mouse construction, design, capabilities and others are identical. It should be noted that the ThunderX3 company also produces branded mouse pads, but, alas, they are sold as a separate product, so you will have to purchase them separately. But back to the hero of our review.

ThunderХ3 TM50

ThunderX3 TM50 optical computer mouse comes in a box, made in orange and black colors, which are perfect for gamers. The front side is made quite austere – there is nothing superfluous on it, only an indication of the model name, brand logo and two icons in the upper right corner, which indicate its non-trivial capabilities. The downside is also not very informative. It provides general information about the product in several languages.

All the most interesting and necessary for the user is located on a separate cover of the box, which is attached with Velcro. It is here that you can see the full technical characteristics of the model and the extension lines to the attached photograph highlight its features. In the lower right corner, a print screen of the mouse driver is printed and the address where you can download it is indicated. Only when installing the proprietary driver will the user have access to all the capabilities of the TM50 mouse, and so it can be fully customized to fit your needs.

Inside the ThunderX3 TM50 mouse, the manufacturing company has placed one of the best optical sensors to date – the AVAGO-3310, which is capable of tracking movements at a speed of 60 IPS (Inches Per Second) with a maximum acceleration of 20 G. In other words, its parameters confidently guarantee that any game situation will always be under control.

The TM50 mouse itself is packed in a box made of thin plastic with a plastic lid that fits it, but transparent. It looks just great, given the specially cut window in the box body.

In addition to the device itself, the ThunderX3 TM50 delivery also includes a removable pad (for the little finger and ring finger), which can be very useful for players who have a slightly different grip from the factory grip of the device. In addition, the complete set includes replaceable Teflon legs, which are extremely rare in the deliveries of these manipulators. Their presence indicates that the manufacturer is confident in the quality of his products and hopes that they will serve the user not one or two years, but much longer. That is why the USB connector is also made gold-plated, counting on a long and impeccable service to the game battle artist.

The same goals (long service life) are pursued by the base of the ThunderX3 TM50 mouse, which is made of brushed aluminum, which not only guarantees reliability, but also makes the device very heavy, and also allows you to achieve an ideal weight balance, which is welcomed by many players, because it contributes to smooth movement of the mouse and, accordingly, naturalness in the actions of the game character.

It should also be noted that the cable of the USB connector is made in a rather rigid and beautiful braid that prevents it from twisting. And its length (1.8 meters) is quite sufficient for comfortable work, even if the computer itself is located a short distance from the player’s table.

The ThunderX3 TM50 case is made of high quality matte soft-touch plastic. This provides a pleasant touch and at the same time prevents slipping when heated up in long gaming battles. On the left (under the thumb) there are two additional buttons that you can use through the mouse driver. The right pad is replaceable. It is not only made of a different material, but also has a slightly different shape. Thanks to this, the player can adjust the contours of the manipulator to those to which he is already accustomed and which are more comfortable for him.

The first thing that catches your eye when you look at the ThunderX3 TM50 “straight and in the face” is its resemblance to the helmet of Darth Vader from “Star Wars”. But the second is a wide (about 1 cm) scroll wheel with a very original tread – large and rare. However, this design not only does not interfere, but, on the contrary, is convenient. The finger on the wheel is comfortable and does not cause any unnatural pressing.

At the top, in a small recessed niche, there is a button for switching resolution, which is carried out in steps from 1500 to 10000 DPI. The choice of resolution is influenced not only by the user’s habit, but also by the genre of the selected game. And in order not to be distracted every time by adjusting the driver, the resolution switching was built into the case, which will probably be very convenient and in demand.

And of course, in order to “unload” the player a little and give his eyes some pleasure, to make it easier to find the mouse, as well as for other, far-fetched or really necessary reasons, both the scroll wheel and the brand logo were illuminated. Moreover, in the device driver, you can independently choose the color of this backlight from almost 17 million colors.

Management utility

For their mouse models, ThunderX3 provides a proprietary management utility. It does not yet have a Russian-language interface, and since the devices have just entered the market, it is quite possible that the software will be changed in the future. On the other hand, we can already say that the management utility has turned out to be very successful and easy to use.

There are three profiles for the ThunderX3 TM50 mouse, each with a ton of configurable options. All settings are grouped into three broad categories – Buttons, Effects, and Performance. In the button settings, the user can set specific parameters for all 6 mouse buttons, reassign buttons, and create macros.

In the effects tab, the user can select the backlight, its type, brightness and ripple. Since the choice of color has very conditional restrictions, you can choose the parameters of the lighting effects to your taste.

The performance tab allows you to customize settings for responsiveness, resolution, acceleration, and even scroll speed. For the convenience of choice, the user is offered a smooth adjustment of almost all parameters.

Since the mouse has a separate button responsible for switching the resolution, in the performance tab, you can adjust each of the resolution types individually.

Overall, we liked the mouse control program very much. It should be noted that in addition to saving the profiles to the mouse memory, saving the created configuration to a separate file is also supported. This allows you to create an infinite number of mouse profiles for different types of games and load them as needed.
